Mix your preferred paint medium with fibre, thread and stitch! In this 4-week course, we will first explore the different techniques and effects that can be created by painting on fabric. Throughout the duration of the course we will learn some basic embroidery stitches, fabric manipulation techniques and some 3D effects to create truly original pieces from this unique, hybrid approach that is so satisfying for both the hands and the eyes. NOTE: A starter kit of materials for both stitching and painting on fabric is included in the course fee. See additional materials list below.

This is an incredible opportunity to take your portrait work to the next level. The challenges presented creating a portrait painting are unlike any other genre. Connie will pay attention to each student's strengths and challenges on a deeper level, and customize exercises and projects for each artist along the way. When students feel ready, they can focus on their own projects with Connie there every step of the way. Individual feedback and guidance will always be available throughout the course. Another first for OAS! This course is great for beginners and seasoned artists looking to develop new styles. From little hummingbirds, to soaring eagles, choose a bird to highlight into a stunning mosaic work of art. Before mosaic application, participants will explore various methods of transferring images onto their substrates. You are invited to bring an image to work with, or choose one from Elena’s collection. We will work with cutting tools, and experiment with a wide range of materials, like stained glass, and ceramic in many forms. Mixed media such as decoupage, acrylic stamping, and paper collage techniques will be introduced to complete the background. We hope you can join this creative adventure! You will take home a beautiful 13"x13" piece at the end of the course that you will cherish.
