    In this portrait drawing course for just beyond beginners, Connie walks you through a step-by-step approach in fundamental portrait drawing methods. She will guide you on choosing materials, the correct way to hold your pencil, the ‘recognition’ of a visual image, getting the right proportions and perspective, and how to design strong compositions. She will cover how to accurately render crucial, realistic features, such as eyes, ears, and hair. Using dark pencil, white pencil, and toned paper you begin to understand what creates a successful portrait- one that captures a person’s spirit- expression, likeness, personality, and mood.     Double Primary Colour Mixing (watercolour) Tuesdays 6-9 pm (David Foster) *4 weeks* (Sept.2-23) Level 1 (young adults/adults)

    Discover the Double Primary Palette system (also known as the Split-Primary Palette ) so as to have control over the mystery in your watercolour painting (and other colour work you may choose for your expression). This apprenticeship course provides the training to gain proficiency in everything from warm and cool colours, through hue, saturation, and luminescence. Like an apprentice, acquire the skills needed to punch up the impact and grace of your images with a thorough understanding of the light that your colour mixing presents in your expression.     An introduction to Integrated printmaking (Thursdays 1-4 pm) Carolyn Hassard (Level 1-2) 4 weeks (Oct. 2-23)

    This short course is packed with tabletop printmaking techniques, with additional access to a small printing press (12 x 24). “An introduction to integrated Printmaking” will launch you into a wonderful world of possibilities to expand your art practice with affordable, safe and accessible printmaking techniques adaptable to a variety of media. This course also touches on the philosophy behind an artistic mindset and approach, which is formative and process based. Plenty of inspiration will be offered for the artist to carry forward into their own, individual  creations. Fabric printing can be included. Each week, including the first, will be preceded by a 15 minute YouTube demo in order to minimize class demo time and maximize in studio work time. This will also allow participants to bring the materials required to pursue their own interests.
