When you travel, you can take photos – or you can carry a sketchbook and record what you see. This class will give you the confidence to sketch on the go. The work you create will result in a more lasting impression of what you see. We will use simple tools to record what we are seeing on paper. Colour will also be explored in this class to add some vibrance to your work. Watercolour paints, and coloured pencils will be used, as well as pens, fine line markers and a fountain pen. Back AGAIN by popular demand! Dedicated time to just paint with others in Studio One. Get out of the house, and take your Monday evenings to create anything you wish in this completely informal setting for optimal comfort and focus. This studio time, open to members and non-members, is the perfect opportunity to work on pieces from classes you're taking, or whatever you like. These precious hours involve no formal instruction whatsoever, but feel free to offer / receive feedback and encouragement from others, (as you wish).

Have you ever wanted to learn how to paint our wild friends, but haven't been sure where to start? This is the class for you! In the 6-week class, Megan will teach you to paint animal portraits from beginning to end. Learn the basics of painting with acrylic, while practicing with a focus on capturing the spark of life within each animal. The first part will cover the basics -- preparing and sketching the composition while paying attention to proportion, breaking down the image to digestible pieces. The next piece will be selected by the class, and provide great practice to build on these skills. Finally, you'll choose your own inspiration image, and Megan will provide individual support as your selection takes shape. What will you choose? A bear, a bird, a snake... your pet? Unlock the fundamentals of portrait drawing in this hands-on portrait sketching class. This course will guide you step-by-step through the essentials of capturing the human face, basic facial proportions, techniques for sketching eyes, noses, mouths, and ears, understanding light, shadow, and shading to create depth, how to observe and draw from photographs, tips for capturing expression and personality in a portrait. There will be live demonstrations, personalized feedback, and practice exercises to build confidence and skill. Beginners welcome! Materials List: Pencils (2B/4B/6B), kneaded eraser, , blending stumps, soft brushes, sharpener. A drawing set from Amazon has most of these things. Additionally you will need a set of vine charcoal, masking tape, sketchbook of size 8X10 or 9X12. The instructor will share some of her supplies, such as compressed charcoal stick, conte pencil, charcoal pencils etc.
