In this crash watercolour course, Shelley will share watercolour basics and best practices for wannabe watercolourists and the importance of simplification. Learn about materials, washes, wet-on-wet, wet-on-dry, colour mixing, negative/positive painting, layering and some pretty cool textures. Out of stockJoin Barbara for a four week mentoring class as she guides you through the topics of composition, shape, value and colour, light and shadow as well as painting techniques. Expect Barbara to discuss various art related topics as she moves about the class and circulates through the studio for individual attention. Students should bring their chosen subject matter in either oil or acrylic. Participants can choose to work one one piece throughout the 4 weeks or bring a new piece each week. The choice is yours and Barbara is there to help you on your path towards finding your voice. Bring your normal working supplies and chosen painting surface plus any images that you would like to paint as well as a cover for the OAS table.

Back by popular demand! Dedicated time to just paint with others in the spring light of Studio One. Get out of the house, and take eight Monday evenings to create anything you wish in this completely informal setting for optimal comfort and focus. This studio time, open to members and non-members, is the perfect opportunity to work on pieces from classes you're taking, or whatever you like. These precious hours involve no formal instruction whatsoever, but feel free to offer / receive feedback and encouragement from others, (as you wish).

Always evolving, Judy's journey continues. This class is about the exploration of various artistic materials and techniques to create unique and diverse art. Students are encouraged to experiment with the option of personal reference material of choice and / or subject matter, such as landscape, abstract, figurative, portrait, and mixed media and to employ recycled materials for inspiration. Your instructor will encourage you to explore and guide you through the various stages of development of your artwork. Experiment with mixing traditional mediums such as painting, drawing and non-traditional materials – found objects, textiles, collage elements and more will be celebrated. The emphasis is on creative exploration, allowing students to break with tradition and discover inspiration through new exciting ways of creating visual art. Another first at OAS! Dedicated YOU time on Wednesday afternoons to make art with others at OAS. Take six weeks. Play and collaborate with other artists in this completely informal, co-operative studio setting. Gelli printers, collage artists, print-makers, and other mixed media artists are invited to join this social, productive and inspiring tabletop art group. Open to members and non-members, this is the perfect opportunity to work on your art with others and learn from each other along the way. No formal instruction whatsoever, but feel free to offer / receive feedback and encouragement from others, (as you wish).

The fun continues, as you learn how to easily break down and simplify another painting from the Group of Seven. Sue will show you how to mix and apply the colours, and how to add details to finish the painting.
