Participants will learn how to create a pouring medium and mix acrylic paint, while experimenting with colour groupings and producing indoor or outdoor pieces of art. This botanical monoprinting workshop is a great way to celebrate spring foliage and flowers, and try your hand at gelli printing in a fun, easily accessible, low stakes way using plants, acrylic paint and a gelli plate. All rudimentary materials will be provided for success! Participants will go home with 4-5 original, really cool prints. Note: More serious artists are welcome to bring their vision, their own acrylic paints, and printing papers. Any acrylic paint and any paper will work.

Learn how to capture the colourful worlds of birds and blooms! You will explore acrylic painting techniques used to capture different textures -- from feathers to foliage. Learn to mix colours to create vibrant nature-inspired artworks. We'll complete a new piece every two weeks (i.e. two classes will be dedicated to each painting). You will gain skill and confidence as you work from sketch and composition, to painting in the shapes and adding final details. Back AGAIN by popular demand! Dedicated time to just paint with others in Studio One. Get out of the house, and take your Monday evenings to create anything you wish in this completely informal setting for optimal comfort and focus. This studio time, open to members and non-members, is the perfect opportunity to work on pieces from classes you're taking, or whatever you like. These precious hours involve no formal instruction whatsoever, but feel free to offer / receive feedback and encouragement from others, (as you wish).

With a focus on the principles of composition, this course delves into the importance of visual set up, values and brush strokes to create aesthetic and emotive paintings in a classical manner. You’ll work initially to create pencil sketches that will evolve, with the instructor’s guidance, into fully developed paintings. With attention to light and values, colour, shape, placement and proportion of elements and the harmony of brush strokes, you’ll learn how to develop works that are visually strong as well as both fulfilling and meaningful. Out of stockWe are thrilled to welcome Robin to our late spring lineup! Learn to paint the individual elements of a great Landscape. Robin will demonstrate how to paint individual elements of a Canadian Landscape. The first two classes will cover different tree species, stones and shoreline, water of all sorts, clear blue skies, sunsets, clouds and rain. You will paint and complete all these elements in class and at home, so bring in your painting equipment. The final class you will be able to complete a landscape painting using most of these elements you have completed in class. This is a hands-on class where you will need to paint in each class and complete the assignments. The supplies are the same as usual - you will need some four practice panels/canvases and a final panel for the last class. Acrylic paint will be used in the demonstrations.
