Let perfection take a backseat while creating art. This is your permission to play, trust your instincts, and fall in love with the unexpected. Be inspired by the raw beauty of nature. Unlock the sensory snapshots already living in you: the crash of ocean waves, the intoxicating perfume of your favorite bloom, the hush of a mountain landscape that once took your breath away. Here, every "mistake" is just a doorway to discovery. Growth isn’t a straight line—it’s a thrilling, messy, glorious loop that transforms you again and again, just when you think you’ve arrived. All of this happens right at the edge of what you already know. And I’ll be right there beside you, cheering you on. Mixed Media, Acrylic, Oil. Art Supply List OAS Fall 2026 Judy Mayer-Grieve

In this course, Heather takes students through the complete painting process, from underpainting to final details, with an emphasis on composition, colour harmony, design elements and technique. Experience with acrylics are prerequisite; some drawing skills are an advantage. In this course, students will further explore colour theory, mixing techniques and grow their painting skills through multiple subjects. Students will also dialogue and explore strategies for overcoming barriers to personal expression and creativity. Each session has a “show and share” time, in a friendly, collaborative and supportive environment to get used to sharing and discussing art in various stages. Heather will also typically do a painting demo to break down the painting process, model and encourage new techniques and experiment with subject matter. Although the instructor provides references, students should begin to develop and bring their own images to encourage independent development and ensure originality in completed artwork. This is a great class to continue to develop and deepen your acrylic painting practice. Students are welcome to use oils as well if desired. Click HERE for Acrylics 2026 Supply List - Heather deHaan
