Discover the Double Primary Palette system (also known as the Split-Primary Palette) in order to gain control over the mystery of creating the colours you want to use for your practice. This four week beginner course provides the training to gain colour mixing proficiency in everything from warm and cool colours, through hue, saturation, and luminescence. In this brief class series, you will learn through a series of exercises. You will paint a variety of 2, 3, and 6 colour gradients, and ultimately full colour wheels in your chosen colour palette. Palette paint choices will be explored, and the colour mixing dynamics of each participant's current palette will become clear. In just a matter of a few weeks, you’ll be ready to choose, create, and control colour in your practice. The instructor will work in watercolour, but all mediums are welcome. Collage is the perfect medium to help you unleash your creative potential. Whether it's to tell a story, fine tune your design and compositional skills or to simply jumpstart your creativity, collage offers a highly expressive and personal form of art that anyone can do, as well as enjoy. This course will explore a wide range of subject possibilities whilst combining an assortment of mixed media and various transfer techniques. Practice and play with colour mixing using only six paints (Double Primary) to create several versions of the same image, yet with completely different effects. See for yourself the grace and impact that intentional colour mixing can have in your practice. Building on the theory of the Split Primary palette, this apprenticeship course will make your colour mixing intentional, with remarkable results. Build up your colours or knock them back – you will try both, and progress in the journey of developing your unique style as an artist. While there is no prerequisite for this class, this course will apply the learning from the preceding class "Double Primary Colour Mixing (watercolour)". The Growling Confident Beginner is a fun, encouraging 6-week acrylic painting course designed for people new to the joys of acrylic. In a relaxed, no-pressure environment, instructor Heather will have you exploring the basics of acrylic painting step by step. You’ll gain confidence as you create landscapes, still lifes, florals, and more—learning to enjoy the process as much as the final result. Watercolour is a lovely transparent medium. Laurel takes you on a watercolour adventure where you learn to simplify and control the fascinating interaction between water, paint, and paper. Have fun while learning: colour mixing, hard and soft edges, as well as different brushstrokes. This class will build confidence in how to handle this medium by teaching you many helpful tricks. Full year memberships (for all programs that take place from September, 2025 through August, 2026) are now available. You can purchase your membership before September in order to enjoy early registration and members' discounts on any of our fall classes and workshops. Members are also welcome to join us in studio any Friday (year round) to enjoy open studio time in our creative community, effective as of the membership purchase date.
