Practice and play with colour mixing using only six paints (Double Primary) to create several versions of the same image, yet with completely different effects. See for yourself the grace and impact that intentional colour mixing can have in your practice. Building on the theory of the Split Primary palette, this apprenticeship course will make your colour mixing intentional, with remarkable results. Build up your colours or knock them back – you will try both, and progress in the journey of developing your unique style as an artist.

While there is no prerequisite for this class, this course will apply the learning from the preceding class “Double Primary Colour Mixing (watercolour)”. People who did not take that course are more than welcome to join this one.

About David:

Gregarious and independent minded, David became proficient in art as a child, and that sparked his ultimate passion – animation.

He put art aside to earn a college diploma in structural drafting at the age of 15, and later continued with computer drafting.

David returned to the arts in 1990 in order to create animated cartoons. He earned an Honours Diploma in Art Fundamentals from Sheridan College and attended the Classical Animation program. He received two grants which supported the production of his first 35mm animated film, HYPOTHERMIA / My Kayak Prayer. He has since completed seven cartoons which have received 16 festival recognitions worldwide.

David’s community mindedness has earned him a 2012 Community Spirit Award Nomination, a Burlington Accessibility Award, and inspired him to establish the Oakville OASIS Drawing Bee in 2010, still going strong.
