PHOTO REFERENCES and other details from Jacintha:
I will supply a photo reference. Please note I will be using the photo as a guide to “extract and create” rather than copy. I paint a step by step demo creating my impressionistic composition in a loosely styled technique.
It is generally easier to grasp the concepts if you follow from my demo photo. For more intermediate students you can work from your own photo while absorbing my techniques, colour palette and particular brush strokes.
Here is what some of Jacintha’s students had to say after a recent workshop at OAS:
“I really loved this workshop. Jacintha is such a warm, friendly, generous person. This is the first time I’ve met her, and I would love to take her workshops again.”
“She set a very open and fun tone right from the start and carried it throughout. She is very enthusiastic about her work and loves to share that with her students. Her teaching method is very effective – she does a demo for part of the session, then allows students to paint (while giving feedback), and repeats that process as necessary. I love that she wants all of us to compose our own painting, rather than copy hers. She gave us several techniques I know I’ll use to improve my painting in future.”
“It’s a pleasure to provide very positive feedback on this workshop. So glad I did it. I loved the way Jacintha taught. She did many demos at each stage of the painting and talked through her painting process. We were able to watch each stage then go to our own paintings and work on that section. She was happy to come around and provide advice individually. In my mind, I feel all classes should be taught in this manner. Her passion and expertise was obvious. I really want to retain all I learned. I give this class a happy 5- star rating.”
