This program is designed for children aged 7-13.

Just in time for our annual STUDENT SHOW and SALE on March 28 and 29! In this course we will will build a wide body of artwork to allow children to explore every medium and a broad range of subjects. Our creations will include cubism, abstract, landscapes, florals, and how to paint snow for winter creations. We will play and explore using different tools like a palette knife and textured mediums, foil and glazes. This program is designed for children aged 7-13.

Anime is a hit at OAS! There's so much fun in learning the fundamentals of drawing in an anime style. From basic elements like hair, eyes, hands, heads, and poses, to personalized style, facial expressions and more, learn the skills you need to help get started on your journey of drawing the characters you love and making your own! Multiple different anime styles and genres such as Shōnen (eg. Naruto), Fantasy (eg. Jujutsu Kaisen), Chibi (eg. Pokémon) and stylized realism (eg. Studio Ghibli) will be covered. Participants will need to bring plain paper, an eraser, sharpener, and coloured pens or pencils and / or a digital drawing device. No prior drawing experience required! Join long-time OAS instructor Julie Wurtele for a high-quality March Break Art Camp designed for children who love to create. This half-day program focuses on building strong artistic skills through drawing, painting, and carefully selected craft-based projects. Students will explore drawing fundamentals, acrylic painting techniques, colour theory, and creative problem-solving while working with professional-quality materials. Each project is thoughtfully planned with clear learning goals, allowing young artists to create meaningful, well-finished artwork they’ll be proud to take home. This program emphasizes creativity, confidence, and skill development in a calm, supportive studio environment. Suitable for both beginners and experienced young artists. (Aprons will be provided, but please dress kids in clothes that can get messy.)

Famous Drawings and Paintings Through the Ages Whether you're building your portfolio to apply to post secondary art programs, or just want a wonderfully artistic way to spend March Break afternoons, this is for you! During this 5-afternoon workshop, learn how to recreate famous artworks like Starry Night, The Kiss, The Great Wave, and others. Each day we will investigate the different eras of art such as the Renaissance, and how they changed the world of art. Multiple famous styles of paintings will also be explored like Baroque, Impressionism, Cubism, Abstract, and more.
