Anime is a hit at OAS! There's so much fun in learning the fundamentals of drawing in an anime style. From basic elements like hair, eyes, hands, heads, and poses, to personalized style, facial expressions and more, learn the skills you need to help get started on your journey of drawing the characters you love and making your own! Multiple different anime styles and genres such as Shōnen (eg. Naruto), Fantasy (eg. Jujutsu Kaisen), Chibi (eg. Pokémon) and stylized realism (eg. Studio Ghibli) will be covered. Participants will need to bring plain paper, an eraser, sharpener, and coloured pens or pencils and / or a digital drawing device. No prior drawing experience required! Just in time for our annual STUDENT SHOW and SALE on March 28 and 29! In this course we will will build a wide body of artwork to allow children to explore every medium and a broad range of subjects. Our creations will include cubism, abstract, landscapes, florals, and how to paint snow for winter creations. We will play and explore using different tools like a palette knife and textured mediums, foil and glazes. This program is designed for children aged 7-13.

Spring is here, and with it comes a beautiful array of plants and insects! Dive into the world of watercolour and nature illustration with this 4 week class teaching you how to draw and paint a variety of seasonal flowers, foliage, and friendly bugs that make an appearance this time of year. Whether you work as fast as a dragonfly or like to take your time, this class is perfect for anyone with an interest in expanding their understanding of watercolour and drawing. Each class will focus on teaching the foundations of nature illustration and watercolour with a selection of reference images to help you begin your journey! A wide variety of original sketches are provided for you to embellish and paint. You may also opt to learn to design and draw your OWN images to paint. Join Julie for the perfect combination of fun and learning, where kids will experiment with a wide range of quality mediums and techniques like print making and stamping, mixed media large canvas, stained glass painting, conceptual art, coffee and tea watercolour painting, eco art sculpture, pottery painting, sketching, and more! Whether they are new to art or regular artists, every child will leave with new skills, new friends and a wide variety of new creations. All materials are provided, including lots of take home pieces you will be proud to display in your home! (Aprons will be provided, but please dress kids in clothes that can get messy.)

Join OCAD grad (a.k.a. 'art nerd') Megan for five mornings of paintings inspired by iconic artists. A variety of mediums will be used to create pieces in the style of Picasso (cubism collaged faces), dot painting (Yavio Kusama), Pop Art (incorporating bright colours), Van Gogh's Sunflowers (impressionism, using tissue paper), and a step-by-step landscape from the Group of Seven. All materials are included, just dress for art!
