Gouache is one of the older painting mediums used. It is also one of the most forgiving and easiest painting mediums to use. Many great painters – from Sargent to Winslow Homer – used gouache, either on its own, or with their watercolor paintings. It is fairly easy to use – thick over thin applications of paint. You can paint from really dark backgrounds and slowly bring out the light in your work. It is really nice on smaller works that are done in your sketchbooks. There will be a number of pieces created in this workshop, and I will give you all the information you need to master this medium. I will demonstrate how to use it and give you ample time in class to practice the different and easy techniques. Above all, you will have fun using this paint. This weekend workshop runs Nov. 7th and 8th from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Studio One
Robin paints daily life, things that inspire and excite. All the paintings are small, making it easier for people to buy and collect them. “Creating these small treasures brings great joy to my life.” Robin has won a Gemini Award for his work on the movie Nuremberg and has served on a Program Advisory Board at Sheridan College with the Dean of the Arts Program as well as the Dean of the College. His daily paintings on his blog have been viewed by almost fifty thousand visitors.
