The elements and principles of design are fundamental concepts used in visual arts and design to create effective and aesthetically pleasing compositions. The elements are the basic building blocks, while the principles guide how those elements are used. You will explore the elements of design – line, shape, form, colour, value, space and texture – and create works around them. The principles of design – from balance and proportion to repetition, and white space (and everything in between) – will apply to every aspect of your practice going forward.
