Learn how to capture the colourful worlds of birds and blooms! You will explore acrylic painting techniques used to capture different textures — from feathers to foliage. Learn to mix colours to create vibrant nature-inspired artworks. We’ll complete a new piece every two weeks (i.e. two classes will be dedicated to each painting). You will gain skill and confidence as you work from sketch and composition, to painting in the shapes and adding final details. This class is 8 weeks and runs March 23 through May 11 in Studio Two. NOTE: The make-up date will be May 25 (not the previous Monday, May 18, which is a holiday) in the event that OAS must cancel a class for any reason.
A bit about Megan:
Megan Hazen is an artist originally from the Ottawa Valley, now based in Burlington. A graduate of OCAD University, Megan has exhibited widely in group exhibitions and shows across Ottawa & the Valley, Burlington & Halton Region, Toronto & the GTA, and Florence, IT. Highlights include the Toronto Outdoor Art Fair, the ‘So You Want to be an Artist’ competition at the National Art Gallery and appearing on the CBC/Makeful television show ‘Landscape Artist of the Year Canada’. Megan is a board member of the Elizabeth Gardens Creative Collective, and has helped create and facilitate public art with Smilezone Foundation, Acclaim Health and more.
