In this workshop, children will explore creativity using various materials and techniques like acrylic painting, mosaics, paper cuts, pastels, markers, stencils, pigments, and recycled items. Art is communication—transform what’s inside into beautiful creations! From sophisticated supplies to everyday objects, inspiration can come from anywhere. Each child will create artworks for their personal gallery by the end of the week. This studio series is  5 mornings, Monday July 7 to Friday, July 11, inclusive

Please note: Children with special needs must be accompanied by an adult 18+ (for the duration of the class) who can ensure that all participants can focus and enjoy a calm, quiet experience, free of discomfort.

Art materials will be provided

Required Materials for children

  • An old shirt or apron to protect clothing
  • A sketchbook or notebook for ideas and sketches
  • A water bottle for hydration

About the Instructor:
Laura Ruiz is a versatile artist and dedicated educator with 12 years of experience in watercolours, oils, acrylics, and mixed media. As the owner of ArtLab Canada, she has established herself in the Burlington art community, offering personalized instruction and organizing creative events. Laura’s teaching philosophy emphasizes personal expression and hands-on learning, fostering a supportive environment for students to explore their artistic potential. Her diverse background, including studies at the Toronto School of Art and North Hills Art Center in Pittsburgh, PA, informs her comprehensive approach to art education. Her experience creating art in Mexico, the US, and Canada with different groups has enriched her perspective, allowing her to incorporate diverse cultural influences into her teaching. This multicultural approach not only enhances her own artistry but also encourages her students to embrace a variety of techniques and styles.
