*** This is very probably the only BEGINNER class Shelley will teach this year at OAS.*** In this crash watercolour course, Shelley will share watercolour basics and best practices for wannabe watercolourists and the importance of simplification. Learn about materials, washes, wet-on-wet, wet-on-dry, colour mixing, negative/positive painting, layering and some pretty cool textures. Through a series of exercises and small paintings, you'll gain a better understanding of the medium and the building process to create paintings of which you can genuinely be proud. You've had a chance to try watercolour but are still struggling with a few things right? Shelley will help you plan your paintings for optimum results, conquer those brush marks in your washes, balance your values correctly, get clean rich colour or bright sparkling highlights that glow with life or create a dramatic effect. With a little guidance, you'll learn to overcome the trouble spots through a series of small paintings and discover ways to make your watercolours clean and fresh-looking! Gentle critiques will help you develop a better understanding of the medium and fall in love with the watercolour painting process. Watercolour Intermediate Boot Camp Materials List

This workshop will guide participants through the process of outdoor painting. From how to choose a subject, to capturing its essence, Peter will demonstrate the techniques that will allow you to convey your intended message through an impactful and engaging painting. Much more than an unstructured, unguided, Plein Air outing, Peter’s daily demonstrations and individual attention throughout the three sessions will grow your skills and enhance your technique. You will learn to manage the evolving natural light over the course of these sessions, regardless of the weather. This program is designed for traditional oil, water soluble oils and acrylics.

We are thrilled that Peter will spend three Wednesday evenings in our studios this summer, details to be shared soon. This program is designed for traditional oil, water soluble oils and acrylics.
