We are thrilled to welcome Robin to our late spring lineup! Learn to paint the individual elements of a great Landscape.  Robin will demonstrate how to paint individual elements of a Canadian Landscape. The first two classes will cover different tree species, stones and shoreline, water of all sorts, clear blue skies, sunsets, clouds and rain.  You will paint and complete all these elements in class and at home, so bring in your painting equipment. The final class you will be able to complete a landscape painting using most of these elements you have completed in class. This is a hands-on class where you will need to paint in each class and complete the assignments. The supplies are the same as usual – you will need some four practice panels/canvases and a final panel for the last class. Acrylic paint will be used in the demonstrations.

This class is 3 weeks and runs May 13, 20, 27

Robin paints daily life, things that inspire and excite. All the paintings are small, making it easier for people to buy and collect them. “Creating these small treasures brings great joy to my life.” Robin has won a Gemini Award for his work on the movie Nuremberg and has served on a Program Advisory Board at Sheridan College with the Dean of the Arts Program as well as the Dean of the College. His daily paintings on his blog have been viewed by almost fifty thousand visitors.

Here is a sliver of what Robin’s OAS students said about his recent Winter 2026 class:

“This is the second class I have taken from Robin and I really enjoy his teaching style. As well as being a really nice guy, he is also very talented. Robin is organized with a plan for each class that he shares with a handout each week. He is ready to answer questions and help you. His critiques are a great learning experience for all the student submissions. It is a pleasure to watch him paint and learn in his demos. I have definitely found an instructor and mentor and look forward to learning more from Robin in the future.”

“I thoroughly enjoyed Robin’s class and I learned some very helpful techniques. He is very approachable and supportive with great demos each week. I hope to take another class with him in future and hope he returns next fall.”

“This was the third class that I took with Robin Mitchell.  Robin is positive, kind, patient, and supportive.  It is obvious that he puts a lot of time and thought into preparing for each class.  I really appreciated his wonderful painting demonstrations and his handouts.   Robin is both an extremely talented artist and an extraordinary instructor. “

The Winter class with Robin Mitchell was absolutely fantastic! Every class is chalked full of his insights, methods and encouragement! He inspires all of his class to follow their passion for learning and creating art. An excellent class taught by a true master!”

“There wasn’t  a moment when this class wasn’t wonderful. He gives it his all to students which is why so many return again and again. Robin was particularly terrific this session in encouraging a new group of students to continue with their paintings, offering critiques, positive feedback and examples. He fosters a community of painters who improve and become more confident each session.”
