This course will elevate your skill level in employing principles of realistic painting using acrylic and oil (optionally, gouache also) and varnish. You will become familiar with composition, light and shadow observation, color relationships, texture creation, and color theory. Work freely in various realism styles, choosing your own subjects and references such as still life and landscape, or use class-provided references. More specifically, you’ll experience color mixing using the three primary colors while working on your paintings. You will also develop and enhance your ability to create natural and realistic color tones. Learn how to combine colors intelligently to make your artwork vibrant and lifelike. Receive step-by-step instruction on how to apply varnish properly to protect and enhance your finished painting.
