There are not enough words to describe the teacher that Ron is. This is my third photography course with Ron and I enjoyed every moment. He is a very knowledgeable, kind, and patient teacher. He instilled in me a love for photography. OAS is lucky to have Ron as a teacher!
I really enjoyed working with Ron Van Zutphen. Besides learning about the technical aspects of phone photography Ron inspired us to try new things to add to our more traditional repertoire. Ron’s approach is creative and encouraging. His enthusiasm for photography showed us how much fun we could have and learn at the same time. It would be wonderful to keep working with him as a guide. Perhaps a small club?
Great course! I learned a lot of features about my phone camera that I had no idea about as well as how creative photography can be! Ron is a great teacher and a very talented photographer! Would definitely take more courses from Ron and others at OAS.

A huge thank you and shout out to Ron Van Zutphen!!! I learnt so much and this has enabled me to take better photographs and continue learning. This course is much more than learning to use a cell phone camera.
This course is very in depth in learning many different aspects of photography. Ron provided us with many handouts, ensured that we understood the type of practice shots we did each week along with showing us examples of the shots he had taken. Ron also provided us with numerous apps that would help us in editing, and also provided us with links to other photography resource sites. For some that were not in attendance, Ron was kind enough to email the group the practice shots he suggested we try each week.
It was great getting out and practicing different techniques that Ron taught us each week. Our group enjoyed reviewing each others photographs and offering feedback. We now all take better shots thanks to Ron.Looking forward to taking future photography courses with Ron.
The smartphone photography class was phenomenal. Ron was an amazing instructor, is passionate and very constructive. I learned an incredible amount and friends and family are commenting that I have upped my photography skills! Would love if there was another class that Ron continues to offer and helps advance skills.
I first thought I might be in way over my head however Ron quickly made me feel at ease. An enthusiastic teacher, he definitely wants us to catch the photography bug.
His course is an excellent overview of the basics of good photography along with how to use a smartphone and its many apps to explore possibilities.
I very much enjoyed the classes Ron provided us and found he presented his knowledge well. He gave us a lot of pointers and learning tools to use to enhance our photography which is definitely helpful.
He was always encouraging and willing for us to reach out to him even after the class with any question we may have.
I just finished this course. I learnt so very much and it is just the start of my photography journey. Ron is passionate about teaching and is generous in sharing his extensive knowledge and experience. He easily adapted his style to the students’ level of knowledge. I would definitely take further classes with Ron.
