I thoroughly enjoyed Diane’s class, Watercolour for Beginners. I have never taken an art class before & do not have a creative bone in my body…or so I thought. I felt very vulnerable starting as I think art is a very personal thing. Diane’s patience, expert guidance, helpful demonstrations, non judgemental critiques and overall good sense of humour helped foster a peaceful & safe space for exploring oneself through art. I appreciated these lessons so much that the greatest compliment I can give Diane is that I now “dabble” in watercolours at home & am inspired to take another course through OAS. (November, 2024)
This is the second time I’ve taken an eight-week watercolour course with Diane. I hope to do it again and again because she is pleasant, generous, kind, and her classes are truly enjoyable.
Diane is a highly skilled watercolour artist and her comfort and expertise were highlighted in the works she had us follow through in class. Diane did walk around the class while we were practicing and provide individual feedback or assistance.

Diane is such a lovely, tremendous, and generous person. She freely gives of her resources: her paints and brushes, and her knowledge. A very wonderful experience and a class full of interesting people. Diane made watercolour very straightforward and this is not a simple medium.I’d like to take this one again and I’m hoping there is another level offered as well.

Diane has made a huge difference in my painting abilities in a short period of time by teaching techniques that are manageable for a beginner. She can impart her knowledge of painting with watercolours to make all her students feel very successful. She gives frequent demonstrations and then follows up with individual constructive feedback to all students. She has a friendly and approachable personality so it’s very easy to pose questions at any point during class. The combination of all these factors are very conducive to learning how to paint from a beginner’s perspective. Loved the session! Many thanks to Diane!
